Sunspel + Casely-Hayford’s New Capsule Reimagines The Three-Piece Suit

Two years after their first collaboration, Sunspel and Casely-Hayford teamed up again to explore how the three-piece suit fits into the modern wardrobe. “Despite all the headlines in the tailoring and fashion world, a lot of guys do want to wear suits,” says Charlie Casely-Hayford. “They’re just wearing them in a different way. The suit doesn’t need to be this separate thing in the wardrobe that you only wear for special occasions. It can be integrated into it.” This integration requires a considered approach to suit separates, ensuring that each piece is versatile enough to wear independently in a variety of situations. To do this, Sunspel developed a boiled wool jersey inspired by fabrics from their archive. The lightweight, super-soft fabric “doesn’t feel like suiting at all when you’re wearing it but looks smart enough that it can be dressed up,” Charlie explains. With visible raw edge hems, the five interchangeable pieces have an easy, deconstructed look. The trouser has a full fit while the suit jacket is unstructured with a relaxed silhouette and is interchangeable with the waistcoat. Rounding out the collection is a cropped jacket and an oversized topcoat, both made from a denser, more textured boiled wool jersey.
