Watch Porn: Moritz Grossmann’s Highly Limited ‘Atom Moore 37’

When it comes to luxury watches, there are limited editions and there are limited editions. Moritz Grossmann and photographer Atom Moore created a haute horlogerie showpiece available in a limited edition of only seven pieces. The Atom Moore 37 features a silver dial covered with overlapping lines filled with black lacquer, creating velvety strings that subtly reflect light. The finish, known as silver plating by friction, was executed using a 19th century technique revived by the German watchmaker. Housed in a 37-mm stainless steel case fitted to a black leather strap, the watch is powered by an intricate in-house calibre visible through a glass case back. Known for his acute focus photos of fine watches, Moore has worked with Tudor, Vacheron Constantin, Grand Seiko, HODINKEE and vintage watch retailer Analog:Shift. Moore’s name and trademark inspired the dial design, an atom symbol with superimposed ellipses that represent electrons orbiting the atomic nucleus, similar to planets orbiting the sun. Available exclusively from Cellini Jewelers NYC.
