Watch Porn: Omega’s New Seamaster Diver Mixes Gold, Titanium & Tantalum

Omega’s Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph effortlessly blends gold, titanium and tantalum for a striking effect. Each of these precious metals contributes to the watches strength and ability to resist corrosion and discoloration. The 44mm case mixes all three materials. On the side of the case is an 18K Sedna gold plate engraved with the watch’s individual edition number. The Sedna gold bezel ring that crowns the case features a laser-ablated diving scale on a tantalum base. Inside the case, a polished blue ceramic dial sports a wave pattern, date window at 6 o’clock and sub-dial rings with touches of Sedna gold. Turing the watch over reveals the Seamaster logo laser-engraved and white lacquered on the sapphire crystal. Through the glass is a clear view of the in-house Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9900, certified by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology.

The distinctive blue/grey tones on the bracelet, case and at the base of the bezel come from tantalum. First used by Omega in 1993 and recently reintroduced to the Seamaster collection, the lustrous material offers a subtle contrast to the other metals featured. Tantalum is more rare than gold, harder than steel, highly corrosion-resistant and particularly difficult to work with, adding to its rare use within the watch industry.

Available in stores from November 2020, the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph ($19,300.00) is water-resistant up to 300 meters (1000 ft.) and offered in a special presentation box in the style of a water-resistant chamber.
