Watch Porn: Audemars Piguet’s New ‘End Of Days’ Royal Oak Offshore Is A Flashback To 1999

Audemars Piguet is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Royal Oak Offshore with four special edition watches. One of the standout pieces is a black ceramic chrono inspired by the Royal Oak Offshore End of Days (ref. 25770SN), released in 1999. (Inexplicably) Part of the promotional campaign for the Arnold Schwarzenegger film End of Days, this watch was the first special edition Royal Oak Offshore – and one of the first luxury watches created in collaboration with a celebrity. It was an immediate success and marked a turning point for the Offshore, raising the profile of the collection and launching a tradition of special editions. As a nod to the original model’s black and yellow colorway, the new Offshore features a black dial decorated with AP’s new Mega Tapisserie pattern, accented with touches of yellow on the tachymeter scale, the hour markers and the Royal Oak hands – that are crafted from white gold and coated in black nickel enhanced with yellow luminescence. The gold AP logo stands out at 12 o’clock, while black counters decorate the dial at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. This edition is made entirely of black ceramic with titanium details, including the studs, pushers and case back. There are also eight steel screws that attach the octagonal bezel to the extra-large 43-mm case. Limited to 500 pieces.
