Watch Porn: Omega Celebrates 60 Years Of Bond With New Seamasters

On October 5th 1962 James Bond made his on-screen debut in Dr. No… wearing a Rolex. First introduced in a series of novels and short stories written by Ian Fleming, Dr. No made the British superspy a pop culture icon. In the early 1990s the film franchise was rebooted and many of the principle roles (and products) were recast. Following a six-year hiatus, Bond stormed back into theaters with Pierce Brosnan staring in 1995’s GoldenEye. And the new Bond had a new watch. The seventeenth film in the series was the first time James Bond wore an Omega on his wrist.

Today, Omega celebrates six decades of 007 with two new Seamaster models. Inspired by the Seamaster Pierce Brosnan wore in GoldenEye, the 42-mm stainless steel Seamaster Diver 300M 60 Years Of James Bond ($7,600.00) replicates the franchise’s famous opening sequence on the case back – with Bond’s silhouette superimposed on a spinning gun barrel design. The bezel and the dial are both made of anodized blue aluminum, with the bezel’s traditional inverted triangle replaced with a commemorative ‘60’ filled with green lume – which matches the minute hand. Powered by a Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8806, the watch is fitted to a mesh bracelet – the same style as Bond’s Omega in 2021’s No Time To Die.

The Seamaster Diver 300M 60 Years Of James Bond in Canopus Gold is a tribute to ‘birthplace’ of 007, Jamaica. Fleming started writing the fist Bond novel in 1952 at his Goldeneye estate in Jamaica, mining his own experiences working for British Naval Intelligence during WWII. In a nod to Jamaica’s beautiful north coast beaches, the watch dial is made of natural grey silicon. Each dial is unique thanks to the crystallite patterns in the silicon. The bezel topping 42-mm white gold case is studded with green and yellow diamonds in 10 different shades reminiscent of the Jamaican flag. Two additional clear diamonds at 12 o’clock reference the film franchise’s diamond jubilee. Like the steel model, the case back replicates the film’s opening sequence. As the seconds hand moves, the gun barrel graphic spins and spins. Powered by the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8807, the watch comes on an 18K Canopus Gold bracelet with a matching buckle. This edition is delivered in a mango tree box with mother-of-pearl marquetry, a 60 years of Bond logo and dots inspired by the 007 opening sequence. The mango wood is a reference to the song Underneath the Mango Tree from Dr. No – the first James Bond movie. Priced on request.
