Engineered Garments Modernizes Sebago’s Blucher Moc For New Capsule

Vintage American style is a wellspring of inspiration for Engineered Garments designer Daiki Suzuki. This made it easy for Suzuki to embrace Sebago’s New England heritage when designing their new collaboration. “I wanted to go a step further and do something more than just a material or color change approach to an existing model” said Suzuki. “As for the base to lay out my ideas on, I looked through [Sebago’s] wide range of models – loafers, boat shoes, chukkas, boots – and came to a conclusion that I wanted the most basic model for the base. When I think ‘basic’ it’s a Blucher moccasin. With my personal favorite style of moccasins as the base, I added my own adjustments so the finish would be distinctively different from traditional Sebago.”

The Engineered Garments + Sebago capsule features three Blucher style moccasins – the Cover Deck, Over Lap and Zipper Deck – with waterproof uppers made of embossed leather, waxed leather or suede fitted to Vibram EVA soles.

The collaboration launches April 17 at the Nepenthes NYC store (307 W 38th St, NY NY 10018) and nepenthesny.com.
