Todd Snyder Focuses On Trans Visibility With Latest ‘Art of Pride’ Project

Todd Snyder used his latest Art of Pride collaboration to spotlight the work of Xavier Schipani, an influential painter and illustrator known for his focus on the ‘construct of gender’ and the trans-male nude. Together they created a limited-edition French terry sweatshirt featuring an original camouflage pattern design Xavier exclusively for Todd Snyder. The print is a composite of nude, trans-masculine figures in shades of brown and beige inspired the bark of American sycamore trees in Xavier’s hometown of Austin, TX. 100% of the purchase price of the Xavier Schipani + Todd Snyder Art of Pride Crewneck Sweatshirt will be donated to support VISUAL AIDS, a non-profit utilizing art to fight AIDS and support HIV+ artists.

“I was thinking about how camouflage is both a way to conceal a body as well as a pattern associated with masculinity and strength… I wanted to create a camo pattern out of bodies–transmasculine bodies which aren’t seen in popular culture much.”
