Yuketen SS21 Doubles Down On Quality Construction & Heritage Inspiration

Yuketen’s founder Yuki Matsuda is setting the standard for effortless cool with a stable of independent footwear, apparel, and accessories brands run out of his Hermosa Beach, California HQ. From Yuketen’s zebra print Kiltie Bluchers to Monitaly’s modern military surplus apparel, Matsuda’s eclectic aesthetic and focus on craftsmanship have won the designer a devoted following. That focus on quality construction is evident in Yuketen’s Spring/Summer 2021 collection. Standouts include: the hand-cut, hand-lasted and bench-made Pancho boots, crafted in Mexico with Goodyear-welt construction and old world bootmaking techniques; the All Handsewn Maine Guide Ox moccasin, cut from Horween’s soft tempered heavyweight vegetable-tanned leather made to imitate deer hide and handcrafted in the brands Main factory; and the Semi Handsewn Maine Guide Ox DB moccasins, based on footwear worn by New England wilderness guides in the late 1600s.
