Nike + Luca Benini Collaborate On First-Ever ‘Dunk Slam Jam’

Since launching in 1989, Italian label Slam Jam has been dedicated to the “global underground.” Along with bringing streetwear to Italy and launching Stüssy in Europe, its stores in Ferrara and Milan are known for supporting and promoting multiple subcultures. For Slam Jam’s first-ever Nike Dunk, founder Luca Benini wanted to channel his labels rebellious spirit. “This Dunk expresses the values of simplicity and the attention to innovative details, which alongside our rebel attitude, define the Slam Jam DNA,” says Benini of the design.

The upside-down logo on the tongue of the Nike Slam Jam Dunk reflects Benini’s subversive nature. That theme continues with transparent, gummy Swooshes that wrap around to the heel – a new twist on Nike’s unique branding element. Translucent soles tie into the materials, and a playful reinterpretation of the Dunk’s usual perforations adds a new ingredient.

The Nike Dunk Slam Jam in Light Gray will be released on October 03 on slamjam.com. The Black Dunk Slam Junk will be available from October 30 at nike.com and retailers worldwide.
