Omega is expanding the Speedmaster 38 collection with seven new models inspired by the Moonwatch. Using subtle refinements and new colors, Omega achieves a more contemporary look while maintaining the spirit of its famous chronograph. Notable updates include rounded subdials, replacing the oval subdials introduced in 2017, and thicker bezels. There is now less text on the dial for a cleaner look. The new Speedmaster also adopts the Dot-Over-Ninety accent from the Moonwatch. Each reference is presented on a five link Moonwatch-style bracelet. The central links of each bracelet are either polished or brushed, depending on the model.
The new Speedmaster 38 range includes three steel on steel watches. Of these, the black dial model ($6,500.00) is most closely aligned with the design of the Moonwatch. It features a black aluminum bezel, a matte finish black dial, and hands and indexes filled with white Super-LumiNova. This is the only model in the new line without a date function. And the only one powered by the Co-Axial Calibre 3332. The Calibre 3330 powers the six references with date functions.
Additional steel on steel models include a white dial reference sporting a blue ceramic bezel with a tachymeter scale in white enamel ($7,100.00). The lacquered white dial is contrasted by hands and indexes with a blue CVD coating – the same shade that appears on the numerals in the date window. Rounding out the steel on steel options is a design with a warm grey aluminum bezel surrounding a silver-tone dial with gold hands and indexes filled with white Super-LumiNova ($6,700.00). A mix of brown and gold hands appear in the subdials.
This launch also includes two bi-color watches in stainless steel and gold. The first two-tone watch is crafted from steel and yellow gold, and fitted with a green aluminum bezel etched with a gold tachymeter scale ($11,700.00). Sitting on top of the silvery opaline dial, all of the gold hands and indexes feature white Super-LumiNova inserts. The small links of the bracelet are crafted in 18K Moonshine Gold. The second two-tone option ($11,700.00) sports an ivory dial with cappuccino accents, a style signature of the Speedmaster 38 collection. The ivory dial provides a subtle contrast for the brown PVD coated subdials. The case of the watch is made in stainless steel, mounted by a polished rose gold bezel with a brown aluminum bezel ring. The small links of the bracelet are also crafted in 18K Sedna Gold.
The final two Speedmaster 38 watches included in this launch feature diamond set bezels. Each watch is encrusted with 52 diamonds, totaling 1.53 carats. The first has an ice blue dial, while the second is set with a white mother-of-pearl dial.
