Eleven-time world surfing champion Kelly Slater isn’t just a Breitling brand ambassador, he is now a frequent collaborator. The new Superocean Heritage ’57 Outerknown is the third Breitling dive watch designed in collaboration with Outerknown, the sustainable apparel brand co-founded by Slater. Following the Superocean Heritage Outerknown in 2018 and the Superocean Outerknown in 2019, there is now an Outerknown model from each of Breitling’s sea-related collections.

The Superocean Heritage ’57 Outerknown is available in two versions: a stainless steel diver and a limited edition model with an 18K red gold bezel atop a stainless steel case. Both versions come on a bronze-colored Outerknown NATO strap made from ECONYL® yarn, a material sourced from upcycled nylon waste some of which is recovered from discarded fishing nets. The 42mm stainless-steel version features a bronze-colored dial with a matching concave rotating bezel topped with a scratch/shock-resistant black ceramic bezel ring. In the middle of the ring, at the 12 o’clock position, is a luminescent central dot – an ideal feature for a dive watch. The Superocean Heritage ’57 Outerknown Limited Edition also has a bronze dial, but its concave rotating bezel is made of 18 k red gold, which is beautifully offset by its black ceramic bezel ring. This model is available in a limited edition of 500 watches. Between the bronzed dials and sporty NATO straps, the watches’ modern-retro design recalls the fun-in-the-sun culture associated with Southern California and Hawaii in the 1950s and 1960s.

The Breitling Superocean Heritage ’57 Outerknown ($4,380) and ’57 Outerknown Limited Edition ($5,225) are available now at breitling.com.
