Rajasthan is famous for its intricate embroidery and mirror work. The Indian state’s handicrafts inspired the 18 East x KEEN Jasper Zionic sneaker. Cut from ballistic nylon and trimmed in shaggy suede, the uppers are embroidered with a traditional Rajasthani all-over stitch in reflective 3M thread. 18 East chose the reflective thread as a direct reference to Rajasthani mirror work, known as shisha. This technique involves stitching small mirrors onto fabric to create reflective designs. Shisha embroidery originated in Persia. It was brought to India during the Mughal era, where it became deeply rooted in Rajasthan’s culture. Available in black and stone, the sneaker combines the lightness of a runner with the rugged practicality of a hiker.
