Thom Browne’s take on Asics’ Gel-Kayano 14 takes inspiration from his impeccably tailored sportswear. The sneakers are available in grey suede, black suede, and white leather. Browne nods to heritage tailoring with piping accents separating the mesh panels from the suede/leather trim, and cross-stitch finishing across the Asics stripe. Each pair comes with two sets of laces, one metal-tipped and one two-toned. A lifelong athlete, Browne also maintained the sneaker’s performance capabilities, including the namesake GEL tech cushioning for shock absorption.
Few Thom Browne designs are complete without his signature grosgrain trims. These sneakers are no exception. All three have red, white and blue grosgrain ribbon loop tabs on the heel. The tricolor ribbons appear again as lace catchers on the black suede and white leather uppers. While the grey suede uppers have matching grosgrain lace catchers – reminiscent of TB’s signature gray wool suit.
