Watch Porn: Blancpain Unveils First In A Series Of Limited Fifty Fathoms 70th Anniversary Divers

In 1953 Blancpain introduced the Fifty Fathoms, the first modern diver’s watch. With its water resistance, doubled-sealed crown, self-winding movement, secured rotating bezel and anti-magnetic protection, the Fifty Fathoms set the benchmark for divers. In 2003, 50 years after its introduction, Blancpain re-introduced the watch with a trio of limited-edition models. Now, 70 years after the release of the first Fifty Fathoms, Blancpain unveils the first of three 70-piece limited series. The Fifty Fathoms 70th Anniversary Act 1 draws inspiration from the original diver and the 2003 ‘renaissance’ model. The black sunburst dial features vintage-look luminescent hands and block markers. The 42-mm case is made of polished steel and topped by a unidirectional bezel with a domed sapphire inlay. This is an exclusive case diameter – no contemporary Fifty Fathoms has ever been offered in this size. Each anniversary series is dedicated to a region of the world – EMEA, Asia-Pacific, the Americas – and bears a number from I to III on the dial. This edition is dedicated to Europe, the Middle East and Africa, sports a ‘I” on the dial and fitted with a black NATO YTT+ strap made from 100% recycled/recyclable thread spun from reclaimed fishing nets.
