Watch Porn: Nigel Cabourn + Timex Launching MK1 Inspired ‘Desert Watch’

British menswear designer Nigel Cabourn built his business with genius reinterpretations of vintage military and workwear styles. So it’s no surprise that his latest collaboration with Timex was inspired by WW2’s desert campaign, famously led by Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery. A riff on the watchmakers classic MK1, the Timex + Nigel Cabourn Desert Watch features a durable 36-mm stainless steel case, mineral glass crystal lens and quartz movement. Cabourn’s signature broad arrow graphic sits at 12 o’clock on the white dial, alongside army green markings and an orange second-sweep hand. Broad arrows have been used on military watches for centuries for easy readability, and feature prominently on many of Cabourn’s designs. Set on a sand-colored Ventile cotton strap, the watch comes in an ‘army mending kit’ with an additional striped NATO-style strap. Available 14 October.
