Filson Introduces New Oil Finish Canvas Gear

Filson tapped 124 years of experience building rugged outdoor gear to create the Oil Finish Rucksack and Excursion Bag. Both bags are cut from Filson’s new oil finish fabric, a tightly-woven 12-oz. canvas treated with a special paraffin-wax finish that keeps water and mud out. As it ages the canvas will develop a unique patina and can be re-waxed occasionally to maintain water resistance.

With a nod to old-school forestry packs, the Oil Finish Rucksack ($195.00) has a main compartment with plenty of capacity for everyday essentials and a separate padded laptop pocket. The cinch-top closure is protected by a storm flap with quick-release tension hooks. Inside, nylon lining provides extra protection for gear. Outside, the padded back panel and shoulder straps provide extra comfort. From filson.com

The high-capacity Oil Finish Excursion Bag ($325.00) features an expandable, nylon coated pocket to separate wet gear from dry. A U-shaped top-zipper provides easy access to the main compartment, while a side-zipper allow quick-access to the wet gear pocket. Bridle Leather handles and a removable webbing shoulder strap provide versatile carry options. From filson.com
