Nike Merges Sustainability & Performance With New Alphafly Next Nature

Driven by the idea that a product that makes the world better can also make an athlete better, Nike Running designers created the Alphafly Next Nature using circular design principles. Nike’s most sustainably-minded performance shoe to date, it contains at least 50% total recycled content by weight. To achieve this level of sustainability without sacrificing performance Nike had to develop recycled versions of key features that maintained their elite properties. Following a use-everything strategy, the shoes Nike ZoomX midsole was made with at least 70% recycled materials by weight. Then any leftover ZoomX foam from the midsole was put into the sock liner. Finally, Nike manufactured the hybrid Flyprint/Flyknit textile uppers using a 3D-printing process to upcycle leftover waste from the production of Zoom Air pods for other high-performance runners – which also contain a high percentage of recycled content. Completing the circle.

The Air Zoom Alphafly Next Nature, coming soon to nike.com.
