Watch Porn: Oris’s Hölstein Edition 2021 Uses Powerful New In-House Calibre

The Hölstein Edition 2021 is the first watch powered by the Oris Calibre 403, a new automatic movement from the watchmakers highly regarded Calibre 400 Series. The watch is part of the brands signature Big Crown collection, first introduce in 1938 as a tool watch for gloved airmen. Made with a crown big enough to be easily operated during flight, the Big Crown’s stand out feature was a pointer date – a central hand that pointed to a date scale running round the edge of the dial. The Hölstein Edition combines Oris’s latest movement with a retro style 38mm stainless steel case inspired by the prewar pilot’s watch. The 2021 design strips back the fluted bezel and domed crystal; in their place are a flat bezel and sharper, crisper lines. The newly developed numerals are based on references from the Oris archive. Luminous indices, numbers and hands on the grey dial contrast with the rich red small seconds at 6 o’clock and the pointer date function. Each of the 250 pieces available has the Oris Bear embossed on the case back alongside its limited-edition number.
