Watch Porn: Zenith Brings Back 70s Classic With New Chronomaster Revival A3817

Zenith

Zenith’s latest El Primero model is a faithful reproduction of the 1971 A3817. Given that only 1,000 pieces of the original A3817 were ever produced, its now one of the rarest and highly sought-after El Primero models among watch collectors. The Swiss watchmaker used archival blueprints and reverse-engineering to preserve the original proportions and finishes when crafting the Chronomaster Revival El Primero A3817. The new timepiece features the same 37-mm angled tonneau-shaped case with pump-style pushers and white lacquered dial with tricolored chronograph counters as the original. Another retro touch is the outer tachymeter scale, which also serves as a pulsometer – a handy function made possible by the high-frequency 5Hz (36’000 VpH) escapement of the El Primero movement.
