Watch Porn: Richard Mille Marks 10th Anniversary Of Rafa Nadal Partnership w/ Limited Edition Tourbillon

The new RM27-04 Manual Winding Tourbillon Rafael Nadal marks the 10th anniversary of watchmaker Richard Mille’s partnership with the King of Clay. Limited to just 50 pieces, the watch fits in perfectly with the innovative timepieces Mille previously created for the twelve-time French Open champion. The case is made from TitaCarb, a new high-performance polyamid exclusive to Richard Mille. Reinforced with carbon fiber, its rigidity, elevated fracture resistance – which is close to that of steel – and high resistance to humidity make it the ideal material for Nadal’s relentless all-court game.

Inspired by the process used to string tennis rackets, the watches movement is encased within a mesh structure formed by a single woven steel cable measuring just 0.27 mm in diameter. The cable is secured by two turnbuckles and woven through the hollowed-out titanium flange 38 times, creating a structure that limits excessive friction and localizes wear on the main strings during the impacts sustained over the course of a tennis match. The movement is secured to the string mesh with five titanium hooks. Suspended within is case, the calibre RM27-04 can withstand accelerations of over 12,000 G’s – a new resistance record for a Mille watch.
