Watch Porn: Omega’s Seamaster Diver 300M Nekton Edition Supports Ocean Conservation

The Seamaster Diver 300M Nekton Edition commemorates Omega’s partnership with British non-profit Nekton, a research foundation established to accelerate scientific exploration and preservation of the ocean. The 42 mm diver is the latest in a series of limited edition watches designed to highlight and support Omega’s commitment to ocean conservation. Only 8% of the ocean is in a designated marine protected area (MPA), with only 2.5% in a highly protected or fully implemented MPA. Nekton’s mission is to reach the global goal of 30% protection by 2030. In the Indian Ocean, some of the work towards this goal is happening as part of Nekton’s First Descent mission. Supported by Omega, this program combines national commitments to ocean protection, marine policy planning and investments, and PR efforts to strengthen grass-roots support for conservation.

The Nekton research team dubbed their deep sea submersible Seamaster 2, in tribute to the boat skippered by legendary yachtsman Sir Peter Blake. A passionate advocate of ocean conservation, Sir Peter had a long association with Omega. Returning the compliment, the steel case-back of the new diver has an embossed Nekton submarine medallion. Turning the watch over, the Nekton Edition features a matte finish black dial with laser etched, polished waves in positive relief. A rotating titanium bezel with a laser etched diving scale in positive relief surrounds the dial. The diver runs on a self-winding Calibre 8806 movement. The in-house movement produces a 55 hour power reserve.

The 42 mm Seamaster Diver 300M Nekton Edition is available now with a rubber strap ($5,850.00) or a stainless steel bracelet ($6,150.00) from omegawatches.com.
