The Fifty Fathoms dive watch collection embodies Blancpain’s passion for deep sea exploration and conservation. The Swiss watchmaker regularly works with professional divers, scientists and underwater photographers to document marine environments and advocate for their preservation. Continuing these efforts, the latest addition to the collection is designed to raise funds for the study and protection of critically endangered hammerhead sharks.
The Bathyscaphe Mokarran Limited Edition introduces a tropical green dial to the Fifty Fathoms collection. The 43.6 mm diver comes in a satin-finished black ceramic case with a rotating bezel that incorporates a ceramic insert matching the dial. A transparent case back provides a glimpse of the automatic Calibre 1318, developed and produced by Blancpain for its sports watches. Also visible, the solid gold oscillating weight engraved with the effigy of a Sphyrna mokarran, or great hammerhead – the largest species of hammerhead shark. Issued in a special 50-piece series, the Mokarran Limited Edition will be available exclusively from Blancpain boutiques in New York and Las Vegas. Blancpain will donation $1,000 for each watch sold to the Mokarran Protection Society to help preserver these awesome predators.
