Watch Porn: Oris Carysfort Reef Limited Edition Dive Watch

The new Carysfort Reef Limited Edition is the first Oris Aquis model produced in solid gold and the second limited edition diver’s watch made in partnership with the Coral Restoration Foundation. The watch is named for the Carysfort Reef, a coral reef in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary near Key Largo, Florida. Carysfort is part of the Florida Reef Tract, the third largest barrier reef in the world and the only barrier reef in the USA. The Coral Restoration Foundation has been working to restore Carysfort Reef since 2014 and has made significant strides towards securing its future. Oris created this special gold edition to help raise funds for the foundation, world’s leading coral restoration organization.

Oris will donate three watches from the limited edition of 50 pieces to the Coral Restoration Foundation. The watches numbered 02/50, 03/50 and 04/50 will be auctioned at a series of fundraisers this spring, with the proceeds benefiting the foundations work.

Based on Oris’s Aquis diver’s watch, the Carysfort Reef Limited Edition has a 43.50 mm case cast in 18-carat yellow gold, complemented by a solid 18-carat gold bezel with a black and blue ceramic insert. Its hands – including the ‘lollipop’ central seconds hand – are yellow-gold-plated and filled with luminescent Super-LumiNova. The automatic mechanical watch has a GMT function and can show the time in three time zones simultaneously using the 24-hour scale engraved into the bezel. The solid gold case back has a sapphire crystal inlay decorated with the limited edition number and a special etching to commemorate Coral Restoration Foundation’s milestone of 30,000 corals planted. It’s set on a blue leather strap with a rubber coating, and each of the 50 pieces made will be presented in a special wooden box.

The Oris Carysfort Reef Limited Edition (CHF17’900/$18,380) will be available in April 2020.
