Uniqlo x Roger Federer 2020 Australian Open Looks

Roger Federer won his last Grand Slam title at the 2018 Australian Open. A win this year will give him 104 singles titles (second only to Jimmy Connors) and 21 Grand Slam titles. The Swiss champion – who has not played an official match in 2020 – kicks off his campaign next week in another exclusive look created by Uniqlo’s Paris R&D Center, led by Artistic Director Christophe Lemaire.

The current environmental conditions pose a particular challenge for the designers working to outfit Uniqlo’s tennis pros for the two-week tournament. Because on court temperatures can reach into the 100°s (+ 37° Celsius), Federer’s shorts and V-neck T-shirts and Kei Nishikori‘s* polos and matching shorts are made with Uniqlo’s DRY-EX material, which dries sweat unbelievably quickly – allowing both players to concentrate on winning.

Before the tournament starts Roger will join Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams, Nick Kyrgios, Naomi Osaka, Stefanos Tsitsipas, et al. for a charity event in Melbourne Park to raise funds for Australia’s brushfire relief. The AO Rally for Relief exhibition match will be played in Rod Laver Arena on the evening of January 15, five days before the AO begins. Tennis Australia CEO and Australian Open Tournament Director Craig Tiley hopes the special event will “make a meaningful contribution to help these people and communities [affected by the fires] rebuild their lives.” #Aces4BushfireRelief
