Barbour for Margaret Howell AW19

Tasked with re-imagining three styles from the Barbour archive, Margaret Howell did what she does best – pared-down silhouettes whose cuts and fabrics speak for themselves. Following the success of their AW18 women’s collaboration, Howell crafted a capsule of generously cut, military-inspired A7, A73 and Spey waterproof jackets for men.

Created in 1936, the A7 jacket was one of the most popular biker jackets of the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Howell’s version – in olive and black – retains the functionality of the original with a wired detachable drawstring hood, two-way zip front with stud-fastening storm fly, knitted storm cuffs inside the sleeves and eight-wale corduroy collar. The longer-length A73 jacket – cut from heavyweight waxed cotton with a cotton lining – has all the functional features of the shorter A7, while offering full coverage. Howell’s Spey jacket is given a contemporary update with a cropped, A-line shape and raglan sleeves that create an oversized, boxy fit.
