J.Crew’s FW19 Sustainable Outerwear

J.Crew takes a step in the right direction – not its first – with AW19 outerwear made with upcycled materials and PrimaLoft insulation. PrimaLoft® is a patented microfiber insulation developed for the United States Army in the 1980s. Last year PrimaLoft introduced insulation made from 100% post-consumer recycled content. By using this material to produce select outerwear pieces, J.Crew saved over 1,044,646 plastic bottles (that’s 57,577 pounds of plastic) from reaching oceans and landfills.

Designed with sustainability in mind, the built-in gilet and water-resistant recycled polyester/organic cotton shell of the Fulton Insulated Jacket ($248.00) makes it easy to control your temperature and stay dry from early fall to the dead of winter. The shell of the Ludlow Reversible Quilted Vest ($128.00) is also spun from recycled poly. Filled with lightweight PrimaLoft, the vest is thin enough to fit underneath a suit jacket or a serious puffer on days when the weather can’t make up its mind. Rounding out the sustainable options is the always popular Sussex Quilted Jacket, improved with lightweight Primaloft filling while retaining all the details guys love, like a corduroy collar, corduroy trimmed pockets and a hidden zip compartment with snap closure.
