Help Save Khaki Save Elizabeth St Garden

Help Save Khaki save the Elizabeth Street Garden. A treasured fixture in the heart of Nolita with a nearly 200 year history as a public space providing education and recreation for children and adults in the community, today the garden is facing an uncertain future. In 1990 Lot 41, the space that is now the Garden, was leased to Allen Reiver, owner of the Elizabeth Street Gallery. Allen transformed the overgrown abandoned lot into the thriving park and art space it is today. For 29 years Allen maintained the Garden as a tranquil, welcoming natural environment with spaces for public programs and exhibitions. In 2012 the city approved Lot 41 for mixed use development. The Garden community and local businesses quickly rallied to stop the development and created an eponymous non-profit, Elizabeth Street Garden (ESG), to save the space.

As a supporting local business Save Khaki designed the ESG t-shirt to help fund the fight and support ongoing programs. The t-shirt is available for purchase at the Elizabeth Street Garden, located on Elizabeth Street, between Prince and Spring Streets. So shop for a cause and help ESG protect and preserve the Garden as a free public space while working to determine how NYC Parks & Recreation together with the community can protect the space for generations.
