Adidas is using the Australian Open to showcase its ongoing partnership with Parley of the Oceans, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending ocean plastic pollution. Adidas works with Parley to transform plastic waste into consumer goods by up-cycling marine plastic debris for use in high-performance apparel and footwear. The German brands 2019 Australian Open collection is company’s first tennis line made from 100% up-cycled ocean plastic. The Adidas x Parley Tennis Collection contains Parley Ocean Plastic yarn, made from recycled waste intercepted from beaches and shorelines before it reaches the ocean. Inspired by Melbourne’s coastal city landscape and ocean views, the collections colour palette of blues, teals and shades of green captures the laid back vibe of the Australian summer.
