GQ X Gap 2018 Sweatshirt Capsule

For their 2018 GQ collaboration Gap went back to the basics. “This year, we took a fresh approach…” says John Caruso, Gap VP of Men’s Design. “Our Gap hoodie and crewneck sweatshirts are iconic American staples that have appeared in countless ad campaigns and editorials.” Gap invited MSGM, Balmain, No Vacancy Inn, Surf is Dead, Officine Générale, STAMPD, Dsquared2 and Opening Ceremony to design their take on the classic Gap sweatshirt. The resulting ‘Coolest Designers on the Planet’ collection consists of eight sweatshirts, one crewneck and seven hoodies, created by the eight designers. Each designer incorporated their own logo alongside the Gap logo with custom colors, graphics and silhouettes reflecting their brand aesthetic.

As part of this year’s program, GQ will be making donations on behalf of each designer to a variety of charities, including: Pane Quotidiano, an Italian organization providing free food to the poor on a daily basis for over 100 years, on behalf of MSGM; Destination Tomorrow, a Bronx-based non-profit supporting LGBTQ+ youth, on behalf of Opening Ceremony; No Vacancy Inn chose Flint Kids Fund, working to help the children of Flint, Michigan who have been exposed to lead in their drinking water.

The ‘Coolest Designers on the Planet’ capsule is available at select Gap stores worldwide and gap.com.
