Watch Porn: Bremont U-2/51-JET

Award-winning British luxury watch manufacture Bremont just launched the latest edition in their U-2 range. The Bremont U-2/51-JET introduces a new case and middle barrel in jet black with a smoked glass exhibition case back showing the hand crafted automatic movement. The watches metal dial combines Bremont’s trademark vintage ’51’ lume logo with Super-LumiNova® coated numerals and heat-treated steel-blue hands.

Bremont’s original U2 series was developed for and inspired by elite military squadrons and designed to withstand the rigors of high altitude flight. While the first U2 timepieces were tested extensively by the elite Spy Plane Squadron based at Beale, California for which they are named, the new U-2/51-JET takes design cues from the RAF’s 100 Squadron’s Hawk T1 Jet aircraft. The 100 Squadron was the first squadron formed for night bombing back in 1917 and their original mission inspired the stealthy appearance of the new U-2/51-JET.

Available June 2018 (US$5,395.00). For more information to bremont.com.

Nick English, Bremont Co-Founder; “Our military projects continue to be an amazing test bed for new design features and the work we did for the Hawk T1 Fighter Squadron is a prime example of this. The jet black that is synonymous with them was a key focus to translate into the watch design; to that end we developed a new type of anodization which helped us achieve a much deeper black on the aluminium barrel. If you compare this to the U-2 DLC for instance you can really see the difference. The colour contrast between the jet black, vintage lume and blue hands makes for arguably our stealthiest watch to date.”
