Watch Porn: Moritz Grossmann Celebrates 12th Anniversary w/ ‘XII Birthday Edition’

Moritz Grossmann celebrates its 12th anniversary with the new XII Birthday Edition watch. The timepiece is a tribute to the brands namesake, 19th century watchmaker Carl Moritz Grossmann – founder of the German School of Watchmaking in Glashütte circa 1878. Inspired by the historic pocket watches crafted by Herr Grossmann, the XII Birthday Edition’s dial features the original ‘M. Grossmann’ logo from 1875 and large Roman numerals. Each dial is handcrafted using a 19th-century silver-plating process, producing a velvet-like surface that reflects most of the incident light without causing glare. This ensures excellent readability. To protect the silver-plating from oxidation and other environmental influences, the dial is finished with a protective coating.

The transparent case back provides a view of the calibre 100.1 movement and elaborate decorative tooling. The 2/3 plate has the typical broad, horizontal Glashütte ribbing. The Grossmann balance is visible in the curved plate cut-out and is borne by the cantilevered balance cock with fine micrometer screw. Raised gold chatons and pan-head chaton screws are a testament to the high quality. Hand-polished chamfers on going-train wheels and the edges of levers and springs create a special depth and light reflections.

Available in a limited edition to twelve pieces worldwide, six in 18K rose gold and 6 in stainless steel. For pricing and availability go to grossmann-uhren.com.
