For his second Fred Perry capsule Nigel Cabourn played to his strengths – outerwear and vintage inspired designs. The British designer found inspiration in Fred Perry’s exhaustive archives, especially photos of Fred Perry training with professional football clubs while preparing for the Davis Cup. The images, from the 1930’s, 40’s & 50’s, of Perry and the players in heavy knits, tailored trousers and Argyle socks were just the inspiration Carbourn needed.
Fred Perry is a brand that I think runs in some ways parallel to the Nigel Cabourn brand, both truly British brands inspired by British heritage and wherever possible manufacturing everything in the UK. I think a lot of Fred Pery and Nigel Cabourn fans alike will be pleased we have finally come together. – Nigel Cabourn
