Kaufman Mercantile just added a handsome shawl–collar pullover from Ohio Knitting Mills to its Fall/Winter 2014 selection. Available in green, navy, and charcoal, the Shetland wool sweaters are made in the USA using patterns from Ohio Knitting Mills archive of original designs and available exclusively at Kaufman Mercantile.

Founded in 1927, Ohio Knitting Mills grew to become one of the largest knitwear manufacturers in Americas once thriving garment industry. At its peak, the family run business had a thousand employees producing private label knitwear for Pendleton, Saks Fifth Avenue, Van Heusen and other well-known labels before shutting its doors in the early 2000s. Today, Cleveland-based designer Steven Tatar is reviving Ohio’s manufacturing tradition inspired by the original mills archives, patterns and designs.
