Paul Smith Jeans AW14 Geodesic Prints

Paul Smith Jeans Geodesic Prints_08

For Autumn/Winter 14 the Paul Smith Jeans collection takes inspiration from ‘Drop City’ – an experimental community on the plains of Southern Colorado that blended practices of art, architecture, and resourceful living. During its creative prime (1965-1969), Drop Cities inhabitants main artistic output took the form of a series of iconographic dwellings inspired by the geodesic design principles of Buckminster Fuller. The geodesic domes were constructed DIY-style using salvaged materials, including found lumber and car roofs taken from junk yards.

The ‘Drop City’ inspiration is evident in the distinctly vintage feel of the collection, with a palette filled with sandy tones, rusty reds and washed-out blues. The geodesic domes directly translate into geometric print patterns on knitwear, jeans, shorts and button down shirts.
