This season’s Originals x Opening Ceremony capsule collection offers a unique interpretation of two classic sports: Baseball and Taekwondo. The first looks to hit stores earlier this year were inspired by everything baseball. The second delivery, featuring styles inspired by Taekwondo uniforms, has just been released. Using the martial art’s garb as a source of inspiration, these designs focus on the traditional Taekwondo uniform’s use of quilted belts and dot motif, originating from a pattern found on Taekwondo socks. These details are cleverly used throughout the collection with the belt influencing the waistbands of track shorts and pants and the dots showing up on track jackets and French terry sweatshirts and as custom-designed badges and patches, exclusive to this collection. The highlight of the collection is the reinterpretation of the classic adidas Gazelle. The iconic sneaker finds new life as a pull-on shoe in soft suede lined with the bold aforementioned dot pattern.
