Metallica has teamed up with Vans for another design collaboration. The quartet’s four piece signature collection reflects each member’s personal style and individual influences from the world of music, art and action sports. Taking inspiration from his love of surfing, Kirk Hammett created a minimalist version of the classic Vans Slip-On in all-natural hemp. Bassist Roberto Trujillo reinterpreted traditional Aztec symbolism using artwork created by his wife Chloe when designing his Vans Escuela. Lead singer James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich were inspired by their experience with the band. Hetfield created a pair of Sk8-Hi’s based on his favorite pair of black boots he had worn on tour, while Ulrich updated the classic Era Laceless with the diamond plate pattern from his snare drum.

Each shoe release will be accompanied by a video highlighting the unique shared passions between the band members and their favorite Vans team riders. The first edition highlights the “Trujillo Trio,” the result of Robert’s introduction to Vans’ skater Tony Trujillo.
