Steven Alan Spring Summer 2013

Steven Alan’s Spring Summer 2013 collection for his signature label was inspired by the youthful spirit of Eric Rohmer’s ‘charming’ romantic comedy Claire’s Knee, in which Jérôme, a 35-year-old diplomat is struck by an unquenchable desire to touch the knee of a teenage girl (It was 1970’s). For the first time in recent memory Alan did not present the collection at NYFW. “There was just a lot going on at the time, between moving our office and launching a new Web site,” the designer told Style.com. He could also add the companies recently opened Chelsea annex to the list of things keeping him busy these days. The newest edition to his mini retail empire is the companies largest store to date and includes an expanded home section.

Although primarily known for his signature reverse seam button down shirts and casual-wear the standouts of this collection were the tailored suiting. Must have’s: a royal blue notched lapel cotton suit, a 3 button peak lapel cotton suit, and a navy shawl collar blazer.
