Alexander McQueen Spring 2013

The collection was a romp through the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with references ranging from Gustav Klimt’s glittering paintings to the vain and decadent characters from “Death in Venice” and “The Picture of Dorian Gray.” Creative director Sarah Burton’s polished, sophisticated collection featured a show-stopping gold suit made from hand-embroidered metal threads that recalled Klimt’s painting “The Kiss,” and a series of white suits — and black ties — with shimmering metallic silk jacquard dragonflies.
