Brands To Know: AMI by Alexandre Mattiussi

Alexandre Mattiussi launched AMI in 2010 with the goal of creating real clothes for real men. “I don’t want to make a fashion statement when I wake up in the morning.” Mattiussi told GQ. “I really wanted to make something that was really realistic, my friends are my inspiration. There is no fantasy in this collection are clothes for real life.” So far AMI’s three collections reflect these sentiments with wardrobe essentials for the modern man, think A.P.C. with edge. This mix of wearable, retail friendly design and contemporary style maybe a reflection of Mattiussi’s career so far with stints at Dior Homme, Givenchy and Marc Jacobs. “I was definitely lucky to start working in prestigious houses. For me, Dior was more a time of observation, Givenchy was experimentation, and at Marc Jacobs, execution. I knew that I had to understand the business before starting my own brand.”

AMI is available at Barneys, Mr. Porter and The Webster.
