ADIDAS CONSORTIUM SPRING SUMMER 2012 ‘YOUR STORY’ COLLECTION

Decade Hi by Aloe Blacc

After a brief hiatus Adidas recently re-launched the Consortium series with the release of the ‘Tabula Rasa’ range, a series of ‘blank slate’ interpretations of Adidas Originals styles. For the Adidas Consortium Spring Summer 2012 collection Adidas invited five prominent creatives from Olympic host cities to develop the ‘blank slate’ designs using their Olympic memories as inspiration. LA based songwriter Aloe Blacc reworked the iconic Decade Hi using Ethiopian marathon runner and gold medal winner at the 1960 Rome games Abebe Bikila as inspiration. The Zx500, one of Adidas’ most popular shoes, was redesigned by Berlin native and vintage sneaker collector Quote. Sydney based designer Jim Thompson’s interpretation of the classic Matchplay was inspired by track shoes from the 1930’s. London-based illustrator Kate Moross’s Baltic Cup incorporates her signature triangle pattern with a reflective finish. Finally, Tokyo Hip Hop artist Muro worked with the Your Story Pro Shell using snake-skin for the stripes on the side panel and jersey cotton for the liner. The result is a diverse collection inspired by a range of creative backgrounds.
