Odin’s Todd Snyder Pop-Up

Odin is opening a Todd Snyder pop-up store next week at their 199 Lafayette Avenue flagship. The Todd Snyder Tailor Shop at Odin will focus on the designer’s suits and furnishing and is expected to be open through June. Snyder’s suits are produced through a collaboration with Southwick, the 83 year-old U.S. manufacturer owned by Brooks Brothers. Odin, better known for a well-edited selection of casual designer clothing, jewelry and shoes (their candles are great if you still need a mother’s day gift, FYI), is not a suit store but Snyder told WWD he thought the pop-up would be “a great way to highlight the lost art” of American suit manufacturing.

Todd Snyder Spring 2012

Todd Snyder, a 2012 nominee for the CFDA’s Swarovski Award For Menswear, has a history with American fashion labels. In 2000 he was appointed Director of Menswear for the Gap, leaving in 2004 to become SVP of menswear at J.Crew. Snyder is credited with introducing many of the innovations and product categories J.Crew is known for today. He overhauled the brands menswear, introducing formalwear and brand collaborations and is responsible for the development of the Liquor Store boutique concept, opened in Tribeca in 2008, used to develop J.Crew’s menswear stores.

Also this week…
This week Target announced that Odin will debut an exclusive collection of sweaters, button-downs, pants, shoes and accessories in its stores and online on September 9, as part of the second installment of The Shops at Target collaboration. For Odin at Target, Eddy Chai and Paul Birardi, the owners of Odin, will translate the “essence of Odin’s signature aesthetic” into products for the mass market retailer.
