Ombre For Hombres

Ombre is a french term meaning “to shade.” For textiles ombre is used to describe fabrics with a dyed, woven or printed design that produces a gradual color change, usually from light to dark. The ombre trend has been popular for a few seasons but gained new relevance when Phillip Lim and Neil Barrett included several dip-dyed pieces in their Spring 2012 presentations.

Here is a small sample of what’s available. From $375 for a crisp Neil Barrett button down, to $23 for an easy-to-wear Gap t-shirt. Topman’s $55 dip dye orange & blue sweatshirt deserves and honorable mention. It’s utilitarian, cheap and on trend.
